Laziness Doesn't Exist...in Children
On the concept of laziness in childhood (spoiler: it doesn't exist there either)
I was at a coffee shop the other day (kid free!) and at a nearby table, a parent had asked his child to throw his trash away. I heard a pretty typical kid response - refusal, whining, “you do it, I don’t want to!” type of thing. The parent sighed and threw the trash away but among the chatter around me, I heard the parent mutter the word “lazy.”
I don’t know if the child heard this or not but it got me thinking. What is lazy, exactly, and how does it play out in childhood…
…if at all?
